The European Commission launched the European Partnership for Action Against Cancer 2011-2013, on 29 September 2009.

ECL is a key contributor to the European Commission process in the development of an EU Partnership for Action Against Cancer, participating in the first brainstorming workshop and in the recent meeting exploring the structure, actions and areas of the Partnership:

1. Prevention;

2. Identification and dissemination of good practice in healthcare;

3. Cancer research;

4. Health information and data

ECL will lead on the pillar on cancer prevention.

A main action will be the re-launch of the European Week Against Cancer, the first of which is planned to take place 9-13 May 2011 on a prevention theme to be decided by the Cancer Prevention Partnership Steering Committee.

We look forward to working closely with our member leagues and external partners to advance cancer prevention in Europe.
